Let me start off my review by just saying that the story itself and the plot were original and interesting. That said i unfortunately did not enjoy this book wich is unfortunately because this book has such a huge hype. I did not like the writting of the book and it seems like the story was dragging and i felt like i was reading the same thing over and over. The book was way to long.
Story line
The story line was very original and the world Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl have created was both orginial and beautiful. Being that said the story drag and it seems like it was not going forward. The book had very poor editing. There were pages of nothing and fillers that did not need to be there. The book would of been much more successfull if it was at leat 100 pages shorter. The story was not predictable specially towards the end.The finally of the book seemed like it was not very well thought out. The ending seemed like a second tought and they were just tring to figure out how they could make the most origninal and out of the box ending but unfortunately it failed. I just wish they would of tought of a better ending and a better reason to have a sequel.
Characters:
I found the two main characters Ethan and Lena to be overshadowed by the supporting characters. I found the main character Ethan boring and predictable. I found lena the main female character to be annoying. It seems like all she did was complain about everyone and everything.
The real charm from the characters comes from the secondary characters.
-Amma Wich is the one responsible for taking care of Ethan. She doesn't care what anyone in the small town thinks of her. She is brave and she will give her own life to take care of ethan. She is very superstitious and it is hilarious just reading about the extremes she will go to get rid of evil. She is also a very caring and a very likable character.
-Macon Ravenwood wich is lena overprotective uncle. He has a dark secret that plays a major part in the story.
-Link Ethan best friend. You can always count on him to break the tension. He is funny and witty. He was obviously added to the story for comical effect.
-Ridley the cruel and sexy antagonist.
Closing commets
For me this book was really hard to read and sometimes painful. Reading a story that seems like is not progessing. The origninality of the story did not overcome the week main characters and the week ending. This book is a book that i don't recomend.
